Just over 2 years ago, Mark Salazar sensed God calling him to plant a church.  Since then, he has had the unique opportunity to experience firsthand some of the triumphs and trials of beginning a new church with CrossChurch San Diego.  Through prayer, fasting, and counsel, God is continuing to confirm and specify that call.

Mark and Kristi completed the NAMB Basic Training for Church Planters in April. It was there Mark learned that Indio, CA was one of the top 3 Strategic Focus Cities by The California Southern Baptist Convention.  This caught Mark’s attention because Indio is also a place that the Salazar family spends much of their vacation time and is very familiar with.  They have enjoyed meeting people in the area feel that the Lord has shaped their family to fit perfectly into the lifestyle and culture there.

The vision God has given Mark begins with Cross Community Church (C3) in Indio.  There are only 2 churches of any faith in North Indio, the specific area where God is calling Mark.  North Indio is a newer, growing development with a 57% population increase since 2000.  There is much land yet to be developed and God has clearly shown Mark that the potential is endless! C3 will be a church that raises up leaders to plant more churches in the surrounding Coachella Valley.  Acts 1:8 says, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem (North Indio), and in all Judea (Coachella Valley), and Samaria (United States), and to the end of the earth.”
